Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso

Inspired by the renowned Buddhist master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, this annual Dharma Celebration is a special opportunity to enjoy spiritual teachings, guided meditations and relax in a peaceful location in the heart of London.

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is a fully accomplished meditation master and scholar, and is the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition. He has established over 1,200 centres and groups worldwide and written 22 highly acclaimed books on Buddhism.

Born in 1931, he ordained as a Buddhist monk at the age of eight. In 1959, he entered into an eighteen-year meditation retreat that took him to various locations in the Himalayan region and northern India.

Since arriving in the UK in 1977, Geshe Kelsang has worked tirelessly to establish Buddhism in the modern world. Renowned for their clarity and practicality, his teachings perfectly bridge modern life and the ancient wisdom of Buddhism derived from the Buddhist meditators and scholars Atisha and Je Tsongkhapa.
